A hauntingly beautiful ghost town swallowed by the shifting dunes of the Namib Desert. Once the epicenter of a diamond rush that made it one of Africa’s wealthiest settlements, Kolmanskop’s grand colonial mansions, ballroom, and bowling alley now stand half-buried under drifts of luminous orange sand.

Abandoned in the 1950s when the diamonds ran out, the town has been slowly reclaimed by nature ever since, its peeling walls and skeletal doorframes framed by dunes that pour through broken windows like frozen waves.
