This is a natural and historic islet: a fortified, rose-roofed fishing village of the 15th century, joined to the Montenegrin coast by a slender sandy isthmus and cradled between two crescent-shaped beaches on the Adriatic Sea.

Seen from above, Sveti Stefan reveals its full theatrical geometry — a compact cluster of terracotta rooftops and stone ramparts rising from turquoise water, tethered to the mainland by a narrow tombolo that seems drawn by hand. Once a humble haven for local fishermen, the islet was later transformed into an exclusive retreat frequented by royalty and film stars, and today anchors a luxury resort while remaining one of the most photographed coastal silhouettes in Europe.
