A natural white-sand beach and tidal inlet forming one of the most photographed coastal landscapes on Earth. Stretching seven kilometres along the eastern edge of Whitsunday Island within the Whitsunday Islands National Park, Whitehaven Beach is famed for its near-pure silica sand, so fine it stays cool underfoot even in tropical sun, and for the Coral Sea’s astonishing gradient of turquoise and jade shallows.

At its northern end, Hill Inlet delivers a spectacle unlike any other: tidal currents endlessly redraw marbled ribbons of white sand through blue-green water, a living abstract canvas viewed from the elevated Tongue Point lookout and from the air. Framed by dense eucalypt-covered headlands and reached only by boat, seaplane or helicopter, this is a place of shifting light, silence broken by wind and water, and an untouched wilderness atmosphere that has drawn photographers, sailors and travellers from across the globe for generations.
