Trolltunga is a natural rock formation, a thin sliver of stone jutting horizontally from the mountainside 700 metres above the emerald waters of Lake Ringedalsvatnet, in the Hardangervidda region near Odda, Norway. Rising to roughly 1,100 metres above sea level, this dramatic ledge has become one of the most photographed natural wonders in Scandinavia, drawing hikers from across the globe to stand at its narrow edge with nothing but sheer air and glacial water below.

The approach demands respect: a strenuous round-trip trek of around 27 kilometres through high alpine terrain, past snow-streaked peaks, wind-scoured plateaus, and shifting Nordic light that can turn from brilliant sun to thick fog within minutes. There are no railings here, only raw exposure and the primal thrill of the void.
