A natural white-sand beach and tidal inlet forming one of the most photographed landscapes on the Great Barrier Reef. Whitehaven Beach unfurls for seven kilometres along the eastern flank of Whitsunday Island, its sand composed of 98% pure silica, so fine and brilliant it stays cool underfoot even beneath the tropical sun.

At its northern tip, Hill Inlet reveals nature’s most fluid artwork: tides continuously reshape ribbons of blinding white sand through marbled shallows of turquoise, jade and cobalt, best witnessed from the Tongue Point lookout at high vantage. Fringed by dense eucalypt forest and bordered by living coral reef, the scene shifts hourly with light and water, offering no two visits alike.

Accessible only by boat, seaplane or scenic flight, this protected wilderness within Whitsunday Islands National Park carries deep significance for the Ngaro Aboriginal people, its traditional custodians. Untouched by permanent structures, it remains a rare pocket of pristine, unfiltered natural beauty.
