A natural sandstone canyon coiling along the Escalante arm of Lake Powell, Reflection Canyon is one of the most photographed hidden wonders of the American Southwest. Carved by ancient waters into Glen Canyon’s Navajo sandstone, its serpentine bends create a hypnotic corkscrew of interlocking channels, where emerald water lies utterly still beneath towering slickrock walls.

At sunset, the exposed cliffs ignite in shades of amber and rust, their reflections doubling the canyon’s geometry across the glassy surface below — a phenomenon best witnessed from the rim above, where the full spiral pattern reveals itself. The setting is remote and unmarked, reachable only via a demanding overland hike across open desert or by boat and swim from the lake, ensuring the canyon remains free of crowds and largely untouched.
