A natural volcanic crater lake shimmering in the northern reaches of Pantelleria, the Specchio di Venere — Mirror of Venus — fills an ancient caldera with mineral-rich thermal waters that shift from emerald to turquoise beneath the sun. Fed by underground hot springs reaching 40–50°C, the lake’s shallow basin is lined with soft white mud once favored by Venus herself in local legend, still drawn by visitors for its purifying properties.

Encircled by sun-bleached volcanic slopes and terraced vineyards where the island’s prized passito grapes ripen, the setting is one of stark, elemental beauty. Wild reeds and tamarisk fringe the shoreline, while the Strait of Sicily glimmers sapphire in the distance beyond the crater rim.
