|Ithaa Undersea Restaurant Rangali Island, Maldives ⚲
This is the world’s first undersea restaurant, a glass-domed sanctum resting five meters beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Encircled by a 180-degree acrylic curve, diners are suspended within a living coral garden in the South Ari Atoll, where reef fish drift past in slow, luminous procession as sunlight fractures across the sand below.
Reached by a short stairway descending from an overwater pavilion, Ithaa seats only fourteen guests per service, its intimacy heightening the sense of privilege. A refined tasting menu of contemporary fusion cuisine unfolds course by course, matched with fine wines, while the boundary between dining room and ocean dissolves entirely.
Above, twin palm-cloaked islets are joined by a slender timber footbridge, overwater villas tracing the reef’s edge amid a blindingly turquoise lagoon. It is a rare convergence of architecture, marine wonder, and Maldivian atmosphere unlike anywhere else on earth.
