Marble Mountains, Da Nang (Vietnam)

Discover website ↗

Rising from the coastal plains between Da Nang and Hoi An, the Marble Mountains form a cluster of five limestone and marble peaks that have served as sacred ground for centuries. Originally revered by the ancient Cham civilization, these karsts now house an intricate network of Buddhist sanctuaries, Hindu relics, and natural caves adorned with pagodas and shrines built during the Nguyen Dynasty.

The largest peak, Thuy Son, reveals a labyrinth of passages leading to the ethereal Huyen Khong Cave, where natural light filters through openings in the rock to illuminate Buddha statues in moments of transcendent beauty. Am Phu Cave presents a stark contrast—a journey through the 18 levels of Buddhist hell rendered in vivid stone tableaux. Beyond their spiritual significance, the mountains offer panoramic views across Non Nuoc Beach and the surrounding countryside, while the village below remains renowned for traditional marble carving that has flourished here for generations.
