A dramatic volcanic crater rim rising from the heart of Tun Sakaran Marine Park, Bohey Dulang is one of Sabah’s most striking natural viewpoints. Reached only by boat from Semporna, the island’s collapsed caldera cradles a shimmering turquoise lagoon, its waters guarded by a ring of jagged, jungle-clad peaks. A steep trail of roughly 700 metres climbs through tangled forest to a summit platform at 353 metres, where the reward is a sweeping panorama over the lagoon’s impossible blues, the scattered coral cays of the marine park, and the stilt villages of the Bajau Laut sea-gypsy communities floating just offshore.

The atmosphere is one of raw, unfiltered nature — humid trails, birdsong, and the occasional glimpse of monitor lizards give way to a summit hush broken only by wind and distant boat engines. Culturally, the island sits at the edge of a living seafaring tradition, where the Bajau Laut still anchor their stilt houses above the reef, offering a rare window onto a nomadic maritime heritage increasingly rare in Southeast Asia.
